And the environmental opportunity cost is even larger — what if we had spent those trillions of dollars of investment and resources on renewable energy, energy efficiency, electrification, public transport, etc.

My reach is very limited, but I’ll do what I can to recommend this article. Like Hornborg, you are demonstrating the zero sum game we’re in that’s being characterized as cornucopian. This is so important!!! (My own book, Mammon’s Ecology, cribbing Hornborg, looks at the ecosemiotic role of money in facilitating these energy exchanges (and dissipative structures); but you’ve brought the receipts from physcis.) I hope you gather a large audience.
